Hello!

My name is Kelly Wang and I've dedicated my mission to helping students find their footing in and out of the classroom. I earned my master's degree in Data Science and Statistics from Yale University, where I deepened my study of childhood psychology alongside the applications of machine learning. Before Yale, I completed dual undergraduate degrees in Applied Mathematics and Psychology at Stony Brook University, building on an education that began at Stuyvesant High School and Halsey Middle School in Forest Hills.

I've worked as a private tutor for around 10 years, and in 2020, I founded "Covid-19 Tutoring Support" to help parents and children navigate the sudden shift to online learning. What started as a resource for students struggling to keep up during a difficult transition has since grown into Big Sib Tutors — a team I couldn't be prouder of.

At the heart of my approach is a belief in building genuine mentor-student relationships. I remember growing up and feeling quite intimidated by the education system. It wasn't just me and I know it's not just you either. From being a nervous young student, I carry with me the experiences and empathy of what it was like and I built a philsophy with my team to create the kind of mentorship we wish we had growing up. In fact, when we work with our students, we're not just teachers for academic support -- we're mentors who build lifelong skills for students, like older siblings. Hence the name "Big SIb Tutors".

I'm just as invested in cultivating a team of tutors who understand, firsthand, what it's like to grow up in demanding academic environments like New York City — tutors who don't just excel academically but who also remember what it felt like to be on the other side of the desk. It's a philosophy I sum up simply: teach others the way you wished you were taught.

Outside of work, I find joy in classical music, singing, and video production.
